When biggest is not breast!

by alicetepes @ 2008-04-01 - 04:18:17

THE other day my youngest daughter, aged nearly six, asked me if I would allow her to have a pair of high heels on her 18th birthday. Ah! Bless!

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if indeed I had the power to keep her as my little sweet innocent girl until then?

The reality of course is that her parading around in spiky heels – years before her 18th – will probably be the least of my worries.

Her sister is almost eight, and I know that it won’t be long before she could learn to graduate from Barbie.com onto the highly sinister “it’s only a game” missbimbo.com.

The “only a game” line was a quote from one of the men who have designed and set up this site.

Yes, it could only be men who would create a website for teens that allows them to spend money to become a ‘bimbo’, with – of course – large breasts and tiny waists, long hair and short skirts, cropped tops and high heels.

At worst, just like a hard-core porn star, at best the softer pornographic versions in lads’ mags.

Even more worrying is the highly disturbing trend that what a lot of girls really, really want for their 18th is a new pair of boobs, and incredibly that some parents are willing to pay for them.

The number of British teenagers now having breast enlargement operations has increased by more than 150% in the past year.

This is driven by celebrities who fill the pages of magazines such as Heat and Closer – the Chantelles of this world, and Abi Titmuss, Jordan and even Victoria Beckham, who all allegedly have stick-out fake breasts on stick-thin bodies.

One plastic surgery company – Transform – performed 169 breast enlargements on 18 and 19-year-olds, up from 31 the previous year. It now offers the surgery on credit with 0% interest.

Another group – MYA – Make Yourself Amazing – has been launched to target the 18-35 age range. They too offer special student rates, and on their website ‘Carina’, a student at the London School of Economics, explains how she financed her £3,995 boob job on just over £20 a week.

The subliminal message here is clear: even brainy people in a top college want bigger breasts to enhance their life. Carina says “my confidence grew and I had the courage to get involved in a lot more activities which helped me make some great friends”.

‘Transform’ urge women to “begin your journey towards a new, happier you” and claim to “help thousands of women enjoy life with fuller breasts that they can be proud of”.

The more sombre sounding The Hospital Group carried out 203 breast augmentations on 18 and 19-year-olds last year, doubling the number in 2006, and the more posh sounding The Harley Medical Group doubled their breast ops on women of that age to 180.

Isn’t it mad? Isn’t it a scandal that young women are being encouraged to undergo cosmetic surgery, followed by a life under the knife to replace implants, with the possibility of something going wrong?

But worse, what does it say about the state of our society if young women feel they can’t get on in life unless they have big boobs. I would honestly feel that I had made a bad job of being a mum if either of my daughters wanted to go under the knife to have bigger breasts.

Missbimbo.com should be banned because it encourages the view that the route to happiness is through a perfect body and that one of the ultimate goals in life is to ‘date a famous hottie and show the Bimbo world the social starlet you are!’.

And if it can’t be banned, then mothers should ensure that their daughters can’t get anywhere near this repulsive website that is not only degrading and demeaning for women, but downright dangerous.

Enhance your Breasts Naturally: More and more women are learning that Breast Actives is the program they need to help them get the attention they deserve.
